In 1988, Alexandre suffered a serious injury that forced him to stop training for 2 years; ending with spinal surgery to correct the problem. In 1991 he got his black belt from Master Romero Jacare and began a new phase in his career. He was a professor at Jacare’s academy in Ipanema and the Federal Club. In 1993, together with Master Romero Jacare and Fabio Gurgel, he founded Alliance Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team, Eleven Time WORLD Jiu Jitsu Champion!
